Javine - Best of My Love (Innocent)
release date: 14 June 2004
Javine - Best of My Love

Javine could feasibly have become a member of Girls Aloud, but instead of dwelling on not being selected the 22 year old has given her all to carving out a solo career of her own. As the prelude to her debut album Surrender, Best Of My Love has been chosen as the track to do the pre-promo.

"Urban pop" is what the single is, although that tag is being attached to all and sundry these days. The clap beat is endearing initially but after all of 30 seconds it starts to get annoying. Javine's vocals are low-key but undoubtedly smooth, especially when it turns into a carbon copy of J Lo two minutes in.

As far as chart fodder goes Best Of My Love isn't too shabby, it's well produced and reasonably catchy but it's a bit too heavy on the American influence. Hints of Justin in the guitars that flow through the song and the allusions to Ms Lopez make for something not too unique.
