Jem, or Jemma Griffiths as she's known to her friends, is a young Welsh singer who has already made something of a name for herself in the United States after appearing on the soundtrack to hit TV show The O.C..

Her success on the other side of the Atlantic have led some to dub her 'the new Dido but that's doing her a grave disservice. Jem's voice is much stronger for one thing, and They, while admittedly being a mid-paced 'trip hop' number has a nicely sinister edge to it, courtesy of the rather creepy backing track employed.

Whether she'll repeat her success in her home country is yet to be discovered, but with this already receiving lots of radio airplay, it seems that Jem could be one of the big new names to watch in 2005. Watch out too for the excellent version of Paul McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed on the CD - worth the price of the disc on its own.
