The second track from his third album, this offering has a tough act to follow in the wake of the Bruce Springsteen-featuring song Broken Radio, which has become a permanent fixture on the Radio 2 playlist.

Still, featuring the signature dissident guitar of Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age is a good alternative and certainly adds an extra edge to this mid-tempo number. This, in conjunction with Malin's well-deserved reputation for razor sharp lyrical observation, manages to give it an air that's both gritty and strangely catchy.

Bearing all this in mind it seems strange that, for all the talent behind it, it's still somehow achingly middle of the road. In any event, as we're about to launch into the festive season with all its novelty records and reality TV tripe, don't be surprised to see it vanish without a trace.
