Aussie rockers Jet continue their unrelenting ascendancy with this, the second single to be lifted from the super-cool Get Born album.
At just over three minutes' long, Rollover DJ is short but perfectly formed. The Rolling Stones-meets-AC/DC guitars slap you round the face, the rhythm is urgent and Nic Cester's whisky-drenched vocals deliver some stinging put-downs to the non-musician, superstar DJ: "I wanna move but it don't feel right / Because you've been playing other people's songs all night."
As with previous single (and now iPod TV advert tune), Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Jet have proven that it is possible to take retro rock and not bother with making it "chic", but instead go for the jugular and make it sound downright exciting. And this without any hint of camp costume changes and other such gimmicks. If you haven't already, step out of The Darkness and into the light...
