Speaker-pounding monolithic rock was what I was expecting from Jet's new single Cold Hard Bitch, and that is exactly what I got. It's not hard knowing what to expect from the Ozzie cock-rockers, their musical mantra is pretty basic: crunching rock & roll guitar riffs, pounding drums, lyrics about sexy women and blood-curdling screeches.

Sounding like The Datsuns, The Vines, AC/DC and probably a catalogue of other antipodean contemporaries and forebears, these guys aren't out to win any creativity awards, preferring to keep it old skool and have some good ole rock & roll fun.

Coming with a B-side cover of The Loved Ones' Everlovin' Man, Cold Hard Bitch is sassy head-banging for the trendy-haired. While it isn't as catchy as Are You Gonna Be My Girl, it's certainly deserving of a place in the annals of Australian rock history.
