With a spastic, frenetic, frenzied guitar sound, Lucio Starts Fires is addictive from the first bar. This is the debut single from much hyped (and deservedly so) cockney types Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong.
Let's get one thing clear. This is pop genius. Little wonder they have attracted such interest from the industry, with record companies seizing prey, and chomping at the bit to sign them. Fronted by the Joe Lean of the band's moniker, the former Pipette's drummer is dirt cool in his vocal delivery, his lyrics engaging.
In my mind, this is one of the best debut singles of the last five years. Quick, jangly, addictive pop music. Fall in love with it. Tell your friends. I'm off to listen to Lucio Starts Fires, again. "Loyalties come, and loyalties go...isn't that so!"
