John Squire has certainly had his ups and downs since the halcyon days of The Stone Roses' first album. With the inevitable disappointment of the follow up, The Second Coming and the rather dire Seahorses album, you'd be forgiven for thinking that maybe Squire wasn't the creative genius of the group after all.

Joe Louis is certainly better than anything on the Seahorses album, but perhaps that's damning with faint praise. Squire was once hailed as the greatest guitarist of his generation, and he reminds us why on this track with some incendiary fretwork. However, Squire's vocals badly let him down and only serve to remind us why he is not a natural frontman.

Like Bob Dylan with a particularly bad blocked up nose, Squire's voice is not a pretty thing and it rather spoils the song. Other than that, this is a welcome reminder that one of our greatest talents is still alive and kicking. If only he'd talk to Ian Brown again...
