Recently seen supporting Martha Wainwright, this 22 year old Scottish-born, American-raised songwriter has recently landed the role of Roy Orbison in a forthcoming biopic of Johnny Cash which is due out in the Autumn.

So now would be the perfect time to investigate him before he becomes huge. Because, if this single is anything to go by, this is exactly what he's about to become. A simple acoustic ballad, co-written with Rice's girlfriend Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley fame, this shows a maturity far beyond his years and showcases his voice to excellent effect.

He's also got an ear for an attention grabbing lyric: "On drugs in the dark with the one I love/That my friends is where I wish I was" for example. The album's due out in June - he's going to be up there with his namesake Damien Rice pretty damn soon.
