So hot on the heals of Los Campesinos! on the frenzied glitter-pop trail come Birmingham's Johnny Foreigner, but they bring their own chest of insanely upbeat treasures to the party.
The first thing that grips me about Foreigner's (I won't call them that again) third single Our Bipolar Friends are the vocals of co-singer Kelly, which are as sweetly seductive as The Sundays' Harriet Wheeler's, so when the guitars start booming and the drums rush and Kelly's partner Alexei joins in to take the track to more robust heights it's a bit of a shock, and an almightily contrary thrill.
Our Bipolar Friends is a shout from the thriving, ebullient and wide-eyed end of indie-rock, and Johnny Foreigner are shooting for the stars with a modern passion you just have to love.
