Another one of those artists dominating the 'ones to watch' list at the start of 2007, Jack Alsopp has been compared to The Streets, Jamie T and Plan B, apparently on the basis that he has a curious manner of half-singing, half-rapping and a witty way with lyrics.
Truth be told, his sound is a lot more mainstream and polished than the above mentioned three, but that doesn't make Starz In Their Eyes any worse for that. Alsopp's doleful Cockney tones give out a warning for anyone attracted by the X-Factor lifestyle - "now the tabloids use your face to document your fall from grace". It could almost be Gareth Gates' life story in fact.
Ironically enough, it's set to a melody that would have the likes of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh salivating in their judging chairs - very catchy, memorable and danceable, it's pop music with heart and a brain. Get ready, you're going to be hearing a lot more of Just Jack this year.
