They're back. The band that gave birth to such modern poptastic classics as I Predict A Riot and Oh My God, and whose near double platinum selling album garnered plaudits wherever it went, are once again readying themselves to unleash a barrage of viciously addictive pop hooks and melodies.
Ruby, the first single off the forthcoming second album Yours Truly, Angry Mob, is another slice of anthemic, instantly memorable pop. It is unmistakably Kaisers, and could quite comfortably nestle next to anything on 2005's Employment. But those with a more subtle ear will find a more confident, and refined sound, a band who sound completely happy with what they're doing.
Some will attack Ruby's similarity to old material, and cite the Kaiser Chiefs as a band who haven't changed their sound, but if it ain't broke, why fix it? Not every band needs to be Radiohead (nor could they be). With a gently chugging verse that builds to a monstrous chorus this is simply dynamite pop music. More of the same please.
