Kaiser Chiefs are a five piece from Leeds. Even without knowing anything about them you'd be able to pin down their home region after the opening couplet: "Watching the people get lairy / it's not very pretty I tell thee", delivered in much the same way as Geoff Boycott tells batsmen that they're shocking. It's an infectiously amusing start, which leads into a pretty fantastic track.

I Predict A Riot is their second single and it bounces along on ska-ed riffs from Madness, low slung bass lines from New Order, a punked up chorus somewhere between The Jam and The Clash and possesses a lovely Morrissey-esque lyrical twist of self-deprecating humour.

It's arch, witty, knowing, catchy-as-hell, hugely fun, reminds you of a bunch of great British bands without ever becoming derivative and should be absolutely massive.
