That tried-and-tested Keane formula is still going strong, isn’t it? Hot on the heels of the comparatively heavy Is It Any Wonder comes Crystal Ball, the second single from the rather good Under The Iron Sea LP.

The track soars is all the right places, the earnestly-beaten percussion and piano parts gliding alongside Tom Chaplin’s typically passionate delivery. Listen with half an ear, moreover, and you’re sure to chuckle warmly at his heartfelt cries of: "Oh, Chris de Burgh! Chris de Burgh!"

Slap bang in the middle of Keane’s super-safe road but still among the best pop ditties coming to a radio near you soon.
