Keedie & The England Cricket Team - Jerusalem (Absolute)
UK release date: 12 December 2005
Somewhat long overdue, until you realise that it's a crack at the Crimbo no 1 slot, is the England cricket team's celebratory single for winning the Ashes. Wisely, this version of the ageless classic is fronted by young Andrew Lloyd Webber protege Keedie, who gives it the requisite welly needed to pull off this great anthem.
In fact, she has a lovely voice which makes rather pleasant listening. It's a good effort all round, despite the rather thin production. Of course, cricket fans will buy it, but that's not the only reason to consider it, at least as a gift for mum or gran. For a start, if you want something to get you feeling all Christmassy without turning on Songs Of Praise, this will help to get you started.
And not only is it in aid of the Asia Earthquake Fund, it's reclaiming the song back from that awful Fat Les version a few years ago. So don't knock it.
