Pop has a sorry tendency to be anonymous and run-of-the-mill. The R&B side of pop, however, appears to be going from strength to strength, with artists like Blazin' Squad and Jamelia racking up huge sales figures.

Keisha White is the new kid on the block, and Whatcha Gonna Do would appear to promise much of her in future - it's brash, confident and dripping with attitude. Take, if you will, the feminist stance of an angry TLC and cross it with Pink.

The song structure and message may be typical, and Ms White may very well struggle to establish herself in an already saturated market, but Whatcha Gonna Do is still head and shoulders above many of the so-called "stars" of pop R&B.
