"The sexy debut single from her forthcoming album"
says the blurb, and one listen to Milkshake will leave you in no position to
argue. Written by Pharell Williams, produced by N*E*R*D and sung by one of hip-hop's finest female singers, Milkshake certainly has the lot.
The grinding bassline and innuendo-littered lyrics ("My milkshake brings all to the yard / I could teach you but I'd have to charge") make for what is a dirty
track. Not dirty in the trashy Christina Aguilera way, but dirty in a way that's bound to have you shaking your booty.
Kelis seems to have undertaken a change in direction
from angst-heavy to damn right provocative, with a little help from the some
of the best producers around (Richard X and N*E*R*D). And I don't hear anyone complaining.
