The Killers might have abandoned sparkly eyeshadow
and pink jackets for ill-advised facial hair and Bruce
Springsteen's cast-off wardrobe but Bones clearly
demonstrates that they haven't abandoned the ability
to write a killer tune.
Second album Sam's Town didn't always bring the
band glowing reviews but it's proved to be a fantastic
grower and this is one of its many high points, with
swelling riffs, soaring vocals and disco keyboards
still mixed in with the rockier guitars to ensure
they'll get the dancefloor moving.
Brandon Flowers' Vegas showmanship shines through
and while some of the darker sensibilities that can be
a highlight of Killers' melodies don't show their face
here, what does is a catchy, anthemic radio friendly
unit shifter with the weight of a great video behind
it. Don't write them off just yet.
