Christmas does funny things to people. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's the excessive mince pies. Hell, maybe it's just too much booze. Because there must be a reason why otherwise apparently sane people do odd things during the festive season.
Like The Killers, for instance. Usually a perfectly decent band, they've seen fit to record a Christmas single entitled Don't Shoot Me Santa. It's as terrible as its name would suggest - Brandon Flowers adopting a strange falsetto and duetting with himself, playing Santa as a gun-totin' St Nick from the Deep South.
It would be ok if it was played as a comedy record, or played perfectly straight - but the problem is that it doesn't seem to know what it is. There's the usual anthemic chorus, but it just sounds ridiculous here, and Brandon's voice sounds worryingly wobbly towards the end.
Some of the proceeds from Don't Shoot Me Santa will go to charity, but that's really not reason alone to subject yourself to this.
