When the Klaxons first appeared, there was a lot of hype about how they were the most exciting new band in Britain, doing something truly original, the likes of which we'll have never heard before. And then they released an album that, well, sounded a bit like Hard-Fi.
Yet if you can ignore all the hype about them, Klaxons are actually pretty good. It's Not Over Yet is one of the songs that contributed to their 'nu-rave' tag, being a cover of an 1995 hit by Grace (and co-written by Paul Oakenfold, fact fans). It's the perfect hybrid of rock and dance, incorporating sirens and beats with an urgent chorus.
In fact, it's better than the original, with James 'Simian Mobile Disco' Ford giving the song more of an emotional kick than Oakenfold's original, rather too cool, production. It's also better than a lot of Klaxons' songs, something the band are going to have to address if they're to deliver on their early promise.
