Single three from Brighton based and quite likely to tear up 2006 collective The Kooks sticks rigidly to the formula that's seen them chart well with their two previous releases. The subject matter also remains the same - singer Luke Pritchard is still having a rough time of it with the ladies, here declaring "You don't love me, the way that I love you".
And yes, such repetition would signal third time unlucky for a lot of bands, but not so this amiable bunch, who it seems have stolen The Beatles' handbook on how to write timeless, memorable and wonderfully simple pop songs. They've just played a gig at Abbey Road, so I wouldn't rule it out.
Indeed, You Don't Love Me chugs along at a typically breakneck pace, only pausing for breath once it grinds to a halt at around two and a half minutes. Persistent, bouncy guitar riffing, enthusiastic singing and an indelible chorus is what we're dished up with, traits which should ensure yet another successful venture into the top 40. It seems the wheels of their fast moving bandwagon are secure for the near future at least.
