So the plundering continues, as another track is lifted off The Kooks' top 10 debut album, Inside In/Inside Out. Naïve is their fourth release, and comes at a time when it's all looking pretty rosy for the Brighton scamps - an appearance at SXSW, sold out tours months in advance and a packed summer festival schedule.
And this is going to see them climb up that ladder to superstardom even further. Oh yes, Wilson's, Turner's and Okereke's soles are in sight, as this is another three-and-a-half-minute slice of perfect pop that's seemingly designed to fill big rooms and large fields over the coming months and beyond.
"True or false it may be, she's still out to get me", sings Luke Pritchard in his usual enthusiastic manner, and far from being a soppy lovelorn ballad, it's a typically upbeat, energetic piece with a chorus so easy on the ear you'll be forced to sing along to it. It's the type of song that really makes a band, you know, like Golden Touch, Long Time Coming or Run, and is destined to be the soundtrack to the summer months. Resistance, as they say, is futile.
