She's assimilated herself so well into our lives that it's hard to believe that at the start of the year KT Tunstall was still a relatively unknown singer from Scotland. Now of course, she's pretty much a household name, with Eye To The Telescope being one of the biggest sellers of the year.
Under The Weather is one of the more laidback tracks on her debut, and while it doesn't possess the sheer quality of Black Horse And The Cherry Tree, it's still a superior folky ballad. Perfectly played, and sung with just the right amount of understated longing by Tunstall, it's the perfect example of why she's been so successful this year.
She seems to have been lumped in with the Blunts, Powters and Meluas of this world which is a real shame - there's more soul in these three minutes than there is in the whole of Piece By Piece. If you're still to be persuaded to buy the album, this should do the trick once and for all.
