Stuck in the middle of one of Jools Holland's better shows in 2004, a lady playing solo with an acoustic guitar and an Akai sampler sent the audience wild with surprise and admiration as she looped various parts live and sang over them to construct a very fine song.

That lady was Scotland's KT Tunstall, and that song was Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. Since that show she's been gradually building momentum with a short UK tour and the release of her debut album Eye to the Telescope.

This bold new talent should finally see her mark being deservedly made on the singles chart. Whether she goes down as a one hit wonder or a lady with a promising career before her remains in the balance.
