Kubb are at their best when they produce off-kilter, slightly menacing, minor chord works like Wicked Soul and Somebody Else that allow Harry Collier's voice free reign. At such moments they can justify the label-induced hype that's been gathering around the band.
Grow is not such a moment, but rather their statement - rather like K T Tunstall's when she released the loveydovey The Other Side Of The World after her edgier material sparked interest - that they can do slow (romantic?) numbers too.
Quite what it is that Collier would like us to let grow inside of us is a moot point, but this is as poppy as any Valentine's Day single release. Cannily, Grow appears on shop shelves just before the day of lurve...
