"If I give you sugar will you give me / Something elusive and temporary?" So goes the main refrain to this dirgey drone that marks the beginning of sometime Venini synth man Danny Hunt and his gang's major label career.

There's not a sea change here from the band's previous albums, but it's catchy enough. B-side Tender Talons is an instrumental piece, and Jagz Kooner adds Ladytron to a remix list that already includes Primal Scream, Kasabian, The Bravery and Radio 4 with his take on the main track.

Ladytron's sound is steeped in the Sheffield electronica scene, with its cheap-sounding synths coupled with vaguely naughty lyrics that conspire to create decidedly dark, sexual imagery and late-night sleaze. Sugar was always sweet, but never quite this dirty.
