A whole fleet of Shadow Puppets have passed us by unnoticed. God knows who the First were, but Alex Turner and that-other-one from The Rascals are definitely the Last. Which is a shame, because the sound of these Shadow Puppets is disarmingly addictive.
The unashamed syrupy '60s goodness of My Mistakes Were Made For You seems custom built for old school espionage films, Turner's voice more refined and pensive than when in his Monkeys alter ego, his roughly cut diamond of a voice the perfect juxtaposition to a silky smooth string arrangement that arrives by way of the London Metropolitan Orchestra.
October sees The Last Shadow Puppets tour for the first time. If the reaction to their dapper, note-perfect performances at the Reading and Leeds festivals are anything to go by, you don't want to be missing them. Whether or not Miles Kane's Rascals will be waiting for him at the end is perhaps more questionable.
