It's fair to say that Eastbourne is synonymous with the term 'sleepy'. While its South Coast neighbour Brighton gets the gay community and a variety of hip clubs, Eastbourne has the pensioners and a variety of hip replacements.

The Late Greats are here to change all that though. A trio from the East Sussex town, Bang Bang is like a twisted cousin of The Subways, all jangly guitars, handclaps and an incessant melody that nags at your brain. At first listen it sounds like any other indie guitar band, but repeated listening brings its own rewards.

The back up track Life Without Balloons is totally different to Bang Bang, owing a bit of a debt to Editors in its dark intensity. It's another grower, hinting that The Late Greats could well have a long career in front of them.
