West London's The Lights have been hailed as the next Zero 7 or Air, but after hearing their latest single I'd say they are lacking the polished finish of either. Indeed, if this latest single's title is to be taken literally, it does not bode too well for their forthcoming debut album Grand Union.

Good As It Gets is a chilled out tune complete with some nice bloops and bleeps, and as such floats along in a dreamlike fashion - albeit with a harder edge than their aforementioned contemporaries. Unfortunately, however, too many listeners of this song may find themselves experiencing dreams themselves, such is the repetitive nature of a song that leaves you longing for something less stagnant.

Michael Cretu sound-a-like Ryan Caine has an interesting rough voice, which contrasts nicely with the softer tones of fellow vocalist Imogen Andrews at the start of the song. Overall though, there isn't too much to excite here.
