No Conditions is the latest single from West London outfit, The Lights, and although they hail from the sprawling metropolis that is our capital, their music comes from a far more serene and tranquil place.

The frosty atmosphere established by the ambient synths is juxtaposed by the warmth of the smooth and effortless female vocal, as fleeting strings shimmer throughout. Add to this the meaty synth bass that anchors the airy tranquility to the ground and No Conditions is quite an attractive proposition.

Comparisons to Zero 7 will inevitably be made, and in some respects not unjustly, but on the evidence of No Conditions, there just seems to be more weight and substance to The Lights without compromising the lusciously textured, down-tempo mood. Their debut album, Grand Union, will be one to keep an eye on as winter draws in.
