Apparently, Linchpin's singer Joey was a little nonplussed at the idea of having to trim his barnet to avoid expulsion from Catholic school, and uttered the title to this EP's catchy lead track - Jesus Had Long Hair So Why Can't I? - in response to his tutors harassment. Needless to say, the young vocalist is currently seeking entry to a new educational institution by day, while trying his hand at rock stardom after dark.
If nothing else, Linchpin exist to prove that the hours spent waiting outside venues by teenagers across the land in the na´ve hope of a chance to shove their demo into the hands of their musical idols does actually pay off once in a while. When said idols happen to be Good Charlotte front men Benji and Joel Madden, who also take a shine to the material, the results are stuff that rock and roll dreams are made of.
Despite the totally unsuccessful stab at being rebellious, pop-rock's most famous twins may have signed a real gem. Scraping in just this side of Busted's non existent credibility, but nowhere heavy enough to have 'punk' thrown anywhere near it, chart success could be just around the corner for the little British squirts.
