Ms Miskovsky comes to the UK on the back of
platinum success in her native Sweden - her album
Falling Water selling like the proverbial hotcakes. It
could be, however, that the timing of her arrival on
UK shores is a little too late, with competitors
Lucie Silvas and KT Tunstall just two
acts to have made gains in recent months.
Like Silvas, Miskovsky has cut her cloth as a
songwriter, co-writing for the Backstreet Boys
among others. This particular track is pleasant,
inoffensive, easy to imagine as part of a radio
playlist, but unfortunately erring on the bland side.
I was reminded at times of her Scandinavian
contemporary Lene Marlin, but unlike her
successes there is no melodic hook to demand repeat
hearings.
"Try to say something that matters" is the
pertinent plea with which the song ends. Whilst it
makes for a good way to close a song, I'm afraid I
couldn't have put it better myself.
