Ah, the glory of vinyl! Theres nothing quite like holding a proper 7" in your mits and being able to read the sleeve notes without the aid of a magnifying glass (this single also comes with a CD so don't panic if you're not one of those people who revel in the dark, dank, musty rooms above record shops where all the rare stuff is kept in an array of mouse chewed cardboard boxes). Releasing a record on vinyl says something about this band from Derby. It says: we are authentic, we take our music seriously, and we understand that 7"s will always be more exciting than CDs.

This is a virtue that carries over into the music that lays within the grooves. The Little Explorer are heavily indebted to a number of bands, many of whom possess the po-est of faces. If you were to check their record collections, it would be safe to assume that you would find Fugazi in there somewhere, alongside any number of post-rock and emo bands.

Chair Legs, and b-side Air! Displace This Smoke, are jammed with beautifully woven guitar lines. Intricacies come and go, layered over some wonderfully tight drumming that comes straight from the school of hardcore. Admittedly there are some whiny vocal sections that betray the taut aggression that lurks within the twisted guitar lines, but if you can forgive them this you'll discover an exciting and inventive world.
