Little Fish is actually Julia Heslop, a self-taught songwriter who's been through drug troubles, depression and a severe throat problem which at one point threatened to stop her singing completely. It's no wonder that her Revolution EP is slightly intense.
For it's Heslop's vocals that really stand out on these four songs. Passionate and forceful, it really sounds like she's pouring her heart into these songs. There are touches of PJ Harvey in her delivery, but she mostly stamps her own personality over the tracks. Of those songs, Revolution is the obvious highlight, alhthough the mournful yet anthemic quality of Ashes stands out as well.
Only the acoustic setting of Thirst grates a bit, with Heslop's voice becoming a bit too shrill at times. There's enough promise here though to suggest that Little Fish could produce something rather extraordinary in the not too distant future.
