Five singles in for the biggest thing to come out of Sheffield since - well, you know who - and at long last there's an album on the way.
The relentless touring appears to be finally paying off, and the murmurings of excitement amongst the media are turning into shouts, setting this up to be their biggest hit to date. The hardcore faithful will know it like the back of their hand already, but if you haven't heard of Little Man Tate before, then this three-minute gem neatly encapsulates what they're all about. Bittersweet, witty lyrics on the nuances of life, set to melodies so catchy they'll gnaw away at your consciousness for weeks.
Their boundless enthusiasm has rubbed a few people up the wrong way back home - not least a certain Mr Cocker, but not even that can stop them now. Of the spate of new Sheffield bands to appear in the Arctics' wake, only these have the songs to go the distance. This is one of them, and the album will have a few more like it. It's simple, exciting and fun. What more do you want?
