Just like Liverpool in the '60s and Manchester in the early '90s, the city of Sheffield is currently over-run with A&R men desperate to find the holy grail: the 'next Arctic Monkeys'.
It's all superfluous of course, but if this interest in all things Yorkshire gets Little Man Tate's name noticed, then so much the better. The Agent is a cracking three minutes of spiky guitar pop that's distinguished by vocalist Jon Windle's yelp of a vocal that brings to mind Morrissey one minute and '90s indie legends Cud the next.
The encouraging thing is that, as good as it is, The Agent isn't even one of Little Man Tate's best songs as a quick listen to the MP3s available on their website will confirm. While they may not enjoy quite as rapid a rise up the charts as their simian counterparts, this lot are going to be another band to help put Sheffield back on the musical map.
