The Scandinavians are taking over. While us Brits can pump out some great, new wave indie pop with a northern accent, it's those from the lush green mountains that are taking all the credit for beautiful and innovative sunset drenched singer songwriters, from your Victoria Bergmans to Kings of Convenience.
Saturday Waits from Loney, dear is no exception. Multi-instrumentalist Emil Svanängen sings like a content cherub in his latest offering. Maybe it's the innocence of apparently still recording in the basement of his parents' house or the fact that he has to keep quiet as a mouse so as not to wake the neighbours that brings a lovely warmth to the single or maybe it's the Brian Wilson-esq vocals, woody piano, pumporgans and uplifting melody.
The Flaming Lips like basslines over such a gentle concoction adds another sparkle to this lovely song.
