There's been a Pet Shop Boys-sized hole in the poposphere for too long. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe were last heard of in Trafalgar Square, soundtracking a Soviet film about a battleship. They do occasionally turn up at celeb parties, and a new album is due soon.

While we wait, however, Norway's Lorraine step into their major label synthpop shoes with this debut single and party like it's 1985. Ole Gunnar Gundersen's voice is the obvious Pet Shop Boys comparison, taking after Tennant's monotone delivery and sounding slick and in control in so doing.

Breezy and fresh, Lorraine already sound polished to perfection. It's too early to say if the trio will take after such illustrious acts as the Pets and A-Ha (countrymates in the world of anthemic pop) but the signs this far are promising.
