Ah, I remember this in its demo form from a few months back, when Campesinos! were just one in the throng of up-and-coming indiepoppers on the Cardiff scene. So what happened? How the f*** are they so popular all of a sudden?
Rubbish question of coarse, as the only thing that matters is the music - You! Me! Dancing!, with its blinding tempos building to that huge crescendo that defies you not to go all beatifically ape-shit, quiet electric guitar asides that let it build like a twisted monument, sweet female backing vocals that speak with '60s girl pop grandeur, and that killer homely reference to Cardiff's indiepop staple Twisted By Design, is a teeming riposte of rooted splendour.
Okay, it's been cleaned up a bit from the original, and though the chorus doesn't follow in as thrillingly a careless manner as the demo and the spoken passage at the end is maybe a little rushed, it's still superb - a blast of twisting pop adrenaline to float you in the sky. Campesinos! haven't had time to lose any dignity and gain too much formality. Let's hope they keep it spinning on the breeze.
