Since Skint has been unshakeably linked to Fat Boy Slim, a number of guitar, mostly acoustic, songs have slipped past unhearing ears unnoticed. In the case of Lucky Jim, this could be a shame.
What starts as a beach front sing-along slowly builds and grows. Bass, piano and drums all come in at different intervals, later accompanied by a hammond organ that will forever sound like a Doors homage, but suits the song like a diamond a ring.
If the questionable nature of the B-side can replaced by more of the opening track, then Lucky Jim could reap the benefits of a record label shifting from a stagnant house repertoire.
