M. Craft's name has been sneakily popping up in music circles almost unnoticed in the past couple of years, with the sporadic release of the odd single here, and an EP there. Having been plagued with ill-fortune and financial difficulty, M. Craft's debut album (also titled Silver And Fire) is at last on the horizon. This title track is the leading single.
Silver And Fire is a marked improvement on 2004's already promising appetizer, Emily Snow. It's hushed, luscious, low-tempo brilliance that's snowflake light. This isn't music that will steal your attention when enjoying the mundane tasks of day-to-day life, but sometimes that's what you want. This is chill-out background music of the highest calibre, with just enough intricacy to keep the listener interested.
B-side You Are The Music manages to simultaneously maintain the prevailing tranquil atmosphere whilst injecting an irresistible dancey funk element. A B-side of A-side quality. In the past two years M. Craft has evolved to a genuinely promising new talent.
