This time last year, The Magic Numbers were just starting to make a name for themselves, and now they're proper, Mercury nominated, Richard Bacon bothering pop stars. I See You You See Me showcases their more downbeat side - a soulful, country-ish ballad between Romeo Stodart and Angela Gannon.

The single is basically a showcase for the band's magical way with a harmony - Romeo and Angela's vocals work together absolutely beautifully, with Angela just about stealing the show from her bandmate and sounding like a Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris for the 21st century. It's gorgeous of course, but it works much better in the context of the album. As a single, it'll probably be a bit too fragile to command much attention.

So if you're still undecided about The Magic Numbers, then hearing this should be enough to push you towards buying the album. Long Legs or Hymn For Her would make much more sense as a single - this is an odd, if sublime, choice of track.
