Marillion - You're Gone (Intact)

release date: 19 April 2004
Marillion - You're Gone

If nothing else, one has to admire Marillion's resilience. Their charismatic, kilt-wearing frontman Fish left the band decades ago, not long after their mid-'80s success with Kayleigh and Lavender.

Despite the hits drying up the remaining members have valiantly soldiered on through the '90s and beyond, recruiting a new singer in Steve Hogarth, and even famously raising money from their fans to fund their album and US tour when the record label advance was not forthcoming.

Unfortunately this single is as you'd expect from ageing Celt-like rockers - over-produced and vapid with plenty of echoing keyboard effects, reverbed guitars and earnest vocals. There's very little to say except that it's one of the most forgettable singles I've ever heard.
