Just as it became customary to remark on how radiant the Queen Mum looked on official visits, so it is that all Californian bands are forever 'sun-drenched'. LA's Marjorie Fair are yet another in a long line of long ryders casting a shaded-eye towards the heavens while plotting their very own road movie.

Scratch just underneath the reflective surfaces though, and there just might be a few corners that are more Manson-cobwebbed than stoner wistful. Feedback, Reid-brothers style lurks way down in the mix, and while Waves is far from spiky, the waters still look too choppy to surf.

I might be imagining things of course. Marjorie Fair are probably just as nice as the those misty-eyed changes suggest. Nice Hammond though, chaps. Radiant, even.
