The second single from the ex-Take That man's forthcoming solo album, In Your Own Time, is produced by Gary Clark, once of Scottish popsters Danny Wilson.
For anyone who remembers Danny Wilson (Mary's Prayer), the influence is immediately apparent. There's a gentle, acoustic intro, a poppy verse and a big, shimmering chorus which has a feelgood quality to it even though Owen is actually bemoaning a lost love.
This is pop as it should be, played with real instruments that lend an organic feel missing from most of the radio fodder out there. Owen even has a way with a wistful lyric ("Made your favourite dinner / Put on your favourite shirt / Just in case you came"). Take that, Robbie...
