Albums, unlike books, should always be judged by their covers. While Martha Wainwright's first album sleeve was framed by a sombre looking mugshot, her second, the teasingly-titled I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too is dominated by her louche, leggy sprawl across a plush sofa.
Music-wise, Martha seems to have loosened up a bit, too, and You Cheated Me, the second single from I Know You're Married... is a bright n' breezy take on a relationship break-up, a tale of finding out that, while your other half gone done you wrong, you're far more relieved to know for sure instead of wasting your time waiting and wondering.
Martha's at her best when - like big brother Rufus - she throws musical caution to the wind and hopscotches her way over several genres in the same tune, and it's difficult to not feel a little disappointed that here she picks 'minor-key indie rock' out of her big bag and sticks to it doggedly througout. But even when she's at her most straightforward, she's never less than utterly beguiling, and if you've resisted her charms so far prepare for this track to haul you into her twisted little world.
