Marvin the Martian is the latest UK hip-hop artist to be thrust forth, but I Hate My Job shows this is nothing about jumping on bandwagons and riding the crest of a wave the likes of Kano and Akala are surfing.
Marv classes his himself as a "grindie" - an indie / grime hybrid and I Hate My Job shows that the brilliance is in the simplicity. There's a strong rock backing that enhances the head-nodding and urges to sing-along to the chorus. There's no surprises from the lyrics, it's about dreading various run-of-the-mill jobs that frankly the majority of us can relate to.
