If you're looking for a review of an early Christmas novelty track from the Looney Tunes character bent on destroying the Earth because it blocked his view of Venus, then you're either really confused or a little bit warped. Marvin the Martian is the latest UK hip-hop artist to be thrust forth, but I Hate My Job shows this is nothing about jumping on bandwagons and riding the crest of a wave the likes of Kano and Akala are surfing.

Marv classes his himself as a "grindie" - an indie / grime hybrid and I Hate My Job shows that the brilliance is in the simplicity. There's a strong rock backing that enhances the head-nodding and urges to sing-along to the chorus. There's no surprises from the lyrics, it's about dreading various run-of-the-mill jobs that frankly the majority of us can relate to.

I hate my job is perfect for cranking full blast on the way to work on a Monday morning, as well as being tailor made for live performance. With another two weeks of his tour supporting Yes Boss there's not a better time to go see this alien before he reaches the stratosphere.
