The truth is, of course, that you can't really hate McFly. While their songs are nothing special, at least they have the decency to try to rock, rather than turning out one dreary ballad after another.
Like their previous efforts, these double A-side offerings are inoffensive, listenable and will no doubt clog up the charts and the airwaves for long into the New Year.
Sorry's Not Good Enough is the better of the two - a bit more power-poppy than Friday Night, with a touch of Meatloaf/Queen pomp about it. Oh all right then, it's actually very good indeed in a radio-friendly unit shifter way - catchy, with a good piano riff and a hook that reels you in immediately. Potato-face still sounds like he's singing into a bucket, mind.
