Former Psychic TV man John Gosling certainly knows a thing or two about floor fillers, and he's created yet another here in Yes Yes Y'all. This track finds him reunited with Roxanne Shante, who had previously provided vocals on the awesome What's Going On, and once again, she doesn't let him down. What you've got here is yer actual breakbeat masterpiece, the kind of thing that would have Fatboy Slim hang his head in shame.

Yes Yes Y'all's great fat undulating bass lines grab you by the hips and insist that you dance like a horny teenager. Meanwhile Shante's swamped "down on the floor, up against the wall" vocal creeps into your head, insisting that for the next four minutes dancing is your only option. Not only that, but dancing is tantamount to fucking in a back alley, except when the beat is this good, cutting a rug is way, way better. The strain on your legs is probably comparable however.

Elsewhere Gosling re-examines his own career with a cover of Red Tape, a song he originally released under the Agent Provocateur moniker. It's far from essential, but if you've ever wondered what Sisters of Mercy would have sounded like if they'd discovered ecstasy instead of amphetamines then this should answer the question.
