Currently battling it out with Little Man Tate and The Long Blondes for the title of the next Next Big Thing from Sheffield, Milburn certainly have the South Yorkshire sound down to pat from the spiky guitars to Joe Carnell's Sheffield-accented vocals.

Whether Cheshire Cat Smile is the song that will break them into the big time is unclear though. There's nothing wrong with it exactly - it has some memorable lyrics ("pass me a book and I'll read you a sonnet") and a catchy chorus, but if you've heard Showroom or Lipstick Lickin', you'll know that Milburn have better songs than this in their armoury.

In fact, this was originally the B-side to Lipstick Lickin', which makes it all the more curious it should be released as a single now. They'll become big eventually, but this is a bit too 'indie-by-numbers' to be truly great.
