This debut single by this Brighton band was originally scheduled for release on 14 May 2007, but was suspended when guitarist and vocalist Jon Chandler tragically lost his life in a vehicle accident just a week earlier. This gem of a song hasn't been lost forever though, and gets a new release date with all royalties being donated to RoadPeace, the UK national charity for road traffic victims.
It really is a stunning single. The gentle tune starts with some lovely acoustic guitar work before the softly sung vocals join in, undeniably reminiscent of Elliot Smith in his X/O era, and everything keeps building and building to a joyous climax.
The antithesis of all the crude, unsubtle British bands throwing their weight around, this song is so fragile you feel it could shatter at any point. Whether or not they can recover from their loss and carry on without such a core member remains to be seen, but I for one would love to hear more from this talented band.
